Research and Development

We identify the IT technologies that are truly important for the user, and fully evolve them to achieve commercialization.

[Network Technology] Communication Technologies for a Vehicle-Infrastructure System

The vehicle-infrastructure cooperative system is designed to reduce traffic accidents by utilizing ITS technologies. It also promotes safe driving and helps prevent accidents otherwise unpreventable by autonomous safety systems by establishing communication between vehicles, road infrastructures, and pedestrians. In order to develop such a system, we are conducting R&D on specific technologies, including next-generation road-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-vehicle communication technologies, and an integrated simulation technology that will be essential for validating the effectiveness of the developed system.

[Network Technology] Future Vehicle Communication Technology

We are conducting research on future vehicle communication technologies that not only assist with safe driving, but also satisfy various other needs, such as environmental concerns and comfort. Our research includes technologies for communication between groups of vehicles that take advantage of the inherent attributes of vehicles, while also taking into consideration technical trends such as the next-generation Internet that may impact future vehicle networks.

[Software Technology] Software Platforms

We are developing the following fundamental software technologies: multi-core resource management technology and load-balance technology that utilize computational resources, next generation high-speed vehicle LAN technology, security technology, and technology to improve software development process efficiency.

We are evaluating the multi-core processing time utilization technology in particular, after installing it under an OS for in-vehicle multimedia systems.

[Intelligent Information Processing Technology] Advanced HMI

We have formed relationships with universities and research institutes to develop future car-driver interface technologies. Our objective is to develop Human-Machine Interface (HMI) technology, which presents relevant information in a natural manner, while accurately grasping the external environmental conditions and the driver's intention.

[Leading-edge Hardware Technology] Software Defined Radio and Cognitive Radio

Awarded "2006 Special Technical Award in Software Defined Radio" by the Technical Committee of Software Radio

We are conducting R&D in order to use software-defined radio technology to consolidate the large number of methods that are currently used inside vehicles for receiving broadcast signals and exchanging wireless communication. Based on this technology, we are aiming to achieve a cognitive radio-system that automatically switches the frequency and communication method depending on the surrounding environment.
