[Network Technology] Future Vehicular Networking Technologies

We are focusing on R&D in future vehicular networking technologies that not only assist with safe driving, but also satisfy various other needs such as environmental concerns and driving comfort. Our activities include developing technologies for cognitive networks; communication between swarms of vehicles that take advantage of the attributes unique to vehicles; while also taking into consideration technical trends such as the future generation Internet that will impact future vehicular networks.

[Network Technology] Simulation Technology

In order to verify the efficiency of ITS applications using R2V / V2V communications, we propose a flexible simulation platform: ISP (Integrated Simulation Platform), in which 1) traffic simulation, 2) network simulation, 3) wireless propagation simulation, 4) emission simulation, and 5) ITS application simulations are loosely coupled. With this simulation platform, we can simulate situations where it is not feasible to experiment with hundreds of actual vehicles.

[Software Technology] Software Platforms

We are developing software technologies for future vehicle electronic platforms such as security technology, high-reliability software product development technology, vehicle LAN systems, software technology to utilize multicore processors and user interface design technology.

[Intelligent Information Processing Technology] Human interaction

We are pursuing R&D of human interaction technologies between drivers and vehicles by collaborating with universities and research institutions. The objective of this research is to create a system which can naturally offer appropriate information as needed according to reliable information searching based on vehicle surroundings and preferences/intentions of drivers. Moreover, systematization of information, database and architecture technologies toward realization of the system are being investigated.

[Network Technology] Software Defined Radio and Cognitive Radio

We are conducting research and development to integrate a large number of methods, such as receiving broadcasts or wireless communication that are currently used inside vehicles, by using software-defined radio technology. Based on this technology, we are aiming to achieve a cognitive-radio-system that can autonomously select frequencies and communication methods after recognizing the surrounding environment.
